Verify a Serial Number

What this page checks

Many of the pieces we ship carry a Custom Authentics hologram with its own serial number, formatted like ABC-1234. It is case sensitive. If your piece has one, enter it above and you will see the item that serial belongs to, its status, the date it entered our records, and a photo of the piece as it left us.

Not every piece carries one. If yours does not, that is not a problem and it is not a sign of anything: on nearly every piece, the record that proves your signature is genuine is the third party certificate in your box, and that is checked somewhere we do not control. See below.

The record that matters most: the authenticator's certificate

Nearly every signature we sell is authenticated by a third party before we touch the piece: JSA, PSA, Beckett, ACOA, Upper Deck Authenticated, or MLB and Fanatics. Their certificate number is printed on the paperwork in your box and usually appears on a sticker or hologram attached to the item.

Look that number up on the authenticator's own website, not ours. PSA, Beckett and JSA all run a public lookup, and our verify any autograph COA page links to the lookup for every major authenticator, including ACOA, Upper Deck, MLB, Fanatics and Panini. That record is what proves the signature itself is genuine, and it is the one that matters most, because it does not depend on our word.

A JSA or Beckett certificate number will not return a result on this page, because it belongs on their system rather than ours. The two are separate records kept in separate places.

On the rare piece without a third party certification, the listing says so. Those pieces come with direct provenance, documented in a Custom Authentics letter of authenticity and hologram.

What we check before anything ships

Before a piece leaves here, we check its certificate against the authenticator's own database. If the record does not match the item in front of us, the piece does not ship. Where a piece carries our hologram, we log that serial and photograph the piece as it goes into the box.

The order of the work matters. The signature is authenticated and certified first. Only then is a guitar finished by hand, or a display framed around the signature it holds, and the certificate ships in the box with it.

If your serial does not return a result

First check that you are entering a Custom Authentics hologram serial rather than the authenticator's certificate number, since those live on the authenticator's site. Then check the case, since the serial is case sensitive, and check that you have included the hyphen. If it still returns nothing, email info@customauthentics.com with the serial and a photo of the hologram and we will sort it out.
