About Us

Custom Authentics sells signed memorabilia from music, sports and film. Guitars, framed displays, jerseys and photographs, along with a small line of New Era hats. We ship from Florida, free anywhere in the US, and to 27 countries beyond it.

Why this exists

I started collecting long before I started selling, and the thing that kept getting in the way was the same thing that gets in every collector's way: it is genuinely hard to tell what is real. The market is full of certificates that mean nothing, printed signatures sold as ink, and sellers vouching for themselves on their own letterhead.

So the whole business is built around one idea. You should not have to take my word for anything.

How every piece works

The order of the work matters, and it is always the same.

  1. The signature is authenticated first, by a third party, before I touch the piece. Depending on the item that means JSA, PSA, Beckett, ACOA, Upper Deck Authenticated, or MLB and Fanatics.
  2. Then the work happens. A guitar is finished by hand around the signature it already carries. A display is framed around it. Nothing is designed first and signed later.
  3. Then it is checked again. Before anything ships, I check the certificate against the authenticator's own database. If the record does not match the item in front of me, it does not ship.
  4. Then it goes out with its certificate. The authenticator's numbered certificate travels in the box with the piece.

That certificate number resolves on the authenticator's own website, not mine, and that is the point. If a seller cannot give you a number that resolves somewhere they do not control, that is the thing to walk away from.

Many of our pieces also carry a Custom Authentics hologram with its own serial number, which ties our record of the item to the one in your hands. Where a piece has one, you can look it up on our serial number verification page. It is a second record on top of the certificate, not a replacement for it.

What we make

Most of what is here is one of one. The custom art guitars are real, playable full-size instruments that I finish by hand after the order comes in, which is why they take two to three weeks rather than shipping the next day. The framed displays and shadowboxes are built the same way. The framed signed CDs and the hats are in stock and go out in a day or two.

I only list pieces I would be happy to keep, and I would rather explain honestly why something is priced where it is than talk anyone into it.
